I once again snuck off this summer from my grown-up job and headed off to Israel for some unpaid digging in the sun. I just can’t seem to stay away, especially since we are getting increasingly close to the very cool destruction layer (that’s where the good stuff is, we’re certain of it!).
This year the site yielded a lot of large pits, but we did get to disassemble part of the large stone and plaster lined pit we exposed last year – a fun exercise in reverse engineering. There were a couple of nice cooking tabuns, and of course on the last day we found another curious stone-lined pit(?) that will just have to wait until next summer I fear.
