To Nimrod’s in the North

Nimrod’s Fortress: this was a first for me, and can we all just take a moment to appreciate the name Nimrod.

Aside from the awesome name, the place itself was most excellent. It is a huge site complete with hidden entrances, sneaky passages, spiral staircases, octagonal towers, a moat and a windy goat path for getting back out again. This site is quite far north, and I think I would have liked it better had it not rained on us rather persistently for the first portion of the site visit (rain, in Israel? I was most unprepared for that).  I’d love to go back and spend a bit more time exploring the towers and hidden rooms and less time huddled in an archway, in the rain, getting lectured at.
